room-service-graphic-shortenedThe Greater Lewisville Community Theater would like to host the Winter OTBA mixer on Thursday, February 9, from 6-8 p.m. in the GLCT lobby. The address is 160 W. Main St, but the lobby entrance is in the back on Elm. We would like to invite attendees to stay as our audience for the final dress rehearsal of Room Service, our winter show, which opens the next evening. Although it is technically a rehearsal, and the director reserves the right to treat is as such, we have yet to interrupt the performance as we would in a normal rehearsal. So OTBA guests will see the entire show on February 9. The theater will be open for seating between 7:30 and 7:45, the show starts at 8:00 and will end around 10 p.m.

dsc_3592-copySince there is a performance involved, it would be most helpful if we could get an approximate count of those members who plan on staying for the show. Our cast and crew loves having an audience for the final dress rehearsal so we may be inviting a few additional guests to see the show. OTBA is our primary audience, however, so we want to be sure we can accommodate everyone who wants to stay following the mixer. They can RSVP to me, Nancy Thorne, at nrthorne@gmail.com, or at 972-317-8944.

A bit about Room Service. It’s 1937. A nimble-witted producer, flat broke and living with several actors in a Broadway hotel, is desperately in need of a good script. He finds one, and, by a stroke of good luck, he also finds an angel with $15,000. This comedy shows how, during a hectic few days, the producer plays hide-and-seek with the investor who wants to withdraw his financial support, manages to outwit creditors, and at the very last moment, puts on his play in spite of the most ludicrous and unexpected obstacles.

Thanks, and we look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday, February 9, 2012.
